In an interview with Natuza Nery, an economist says that the readjustment is starting to bring domestic prices closer to international prices and that the old policy ‘enabled competition’. After three low periods, Petrobras announced this Tuesday (15) the increase in diesel and gasoline prices. The readjustment is valid from this Wednesday (16). The liter of gasoline will increase by R$ 0.41, reaching R$ 2.93; And a liter of diesel will rise by R$ 0.78, rising to R$ 3.80. EVANDRO LEAL/FRAME/ESTADÃO CONTENT This is the first increase since the company stopped considering the international oil price as a reference, putting an end to the policy of import parity. “The first conclusion that we observe from Petrobras’ new commercial strategy is that readjustments are less frequent”, explains economist Breno Carvalho Roos. In an interview with Natuza Nery, Breno compares the new moment to the period when the PPI was in force. “We observed weekly readjustments. They tried to pass on the volatility of the price of oil and derivatives to the domestic price in a more instantaneous way.” Oil specialist, Breno says that the readjustment is starting to bring domestic prices closer to international prices and that the old policy “made competition possible”. “The PPI would be mandatory if we were totally dependent on imported fuel, but a large part of this fuel is processed in Brazil.” Listen to the full interview on the O Subject podcast SEE PODCAST CUTS ON VIDEO
