In São Paulo, councilor wants to ban minors under 18 from the gay parade

In an exclusive interview with People’s Gazette, São Paulo councilor Fernando Holiday (Republicans) revealed details of the bill that wants to prohibit the presence of children and adolescents in the gay parade. According to Holiday’s proposal, in case of non-compliance with the legislation, parents and organizers responsible for the event would be fined in the amount of BRL 10,000 for each child present on site. He also suggests that the next editions take place at the Anhembi Sambódromo to have greater supervision. While recognizing that these measures are the prerogatives of the Executive Branch.

On Sunday (11), during the Gay Parade in São Paulo, many videos circulated on social networks in which they showed naked men and others even staging sexual performances. In addition, a block within the event called “trans children matter” with several minors at the head of the block caused a lot of revolt in the networks.

Among the official sponsors of the event in São Paulo are the state government and Banco do Brasil. Holiday also criticizes these sponsorships, stating that public bodies have other investment priorities.

“The event that used to be in favor of an important social struggle with respect for the LGBT population ended up becoming a sex party. It reinforces prejudices.”

The councilor took the opportunity to criticize the sponsorship given to the LGBT parade. “I am bisexual. Ideally, there should be no sponsorship in these events, not only the Gay Parade, but also others like the March for Jesus. We need investments in areas such as: health and education”, he criticized.

Another councilor who expressed indignation at the presence of children at the event was parliamentarian Rubinho Nunes (União Brasil). “Taking your child to church is immoral. Teaching traditional values ​​is machismo. Where is the Tutelary Council at these times?”, He questioned.

Holiday’s bill does not yet have a number: it needs to be published in the municipality’s Official Gazette, which should happen this week, according to the councilor.
