In Manaus, Flávio Dino and senators from Amazonas sign an investment of R$2 billion

Manaus (AM) – The Minister of Justice and Public Security, Flávio Dino, signed an investment agreement worth R$2 billion to combat crimes in the Amazon, the AMAS Program (Amazonia: Security and Sovereignty). Senators Omar Aziz (PSD) and Eduardo Braga (MDB) were present at the official signing of the term, which took place during the 26th Legal Amazon Governors’ Forum, this Friday (10).
The event was held at the Vasco Vasques Convention Center, located in the Flores neighborhood, Central-South area of Manaus.
The initiative aims to strengthen the presence of security forces in the Amazon region to combat environmental crimes such as human and drug trafficking, child prostitution, mining, extraction, illegal hunting and fishing, as well as disputes between legal factions.
“We signed the AMAS in conjunction with the armed forces, the nine states of the Legal Amazon and the BNDES. We will have the allocation of helicopters, the installation of two command centers here in Manaus for the entire region, related to police cooperation and the other aimed at the complementary operations company of the national force”,
stated the minister.
The governors of Amazonas, Wilson Lima (União Brasil), of Pará, Helder Barbalho (MDB), and of Roraima, Antônio Denarium (Progressistas) were present.
The minister also presented the Security Action Plan (PAS) and the National Program for Public Security with Citizenship (PRONASCI 2), with financial partnership from BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development), and delivered more than 100 vehicles and other equipment intended to strengthen Public Security for Amazonas and Roraima.
