In criticism of the pitch at Estádio do Vale, Mano Menezes asks for respect for the State

The goalless draw with Novo Hamburgo, on Sunday night, at Estádio do Vale, had the state of the pitch as the main villain. Far from being a good performance by Colorado, the floor conditions at Anilado’s home did not favor any of the teams. Mainly, the one commanded by Mano Menezes, more technical and skilled. The result kept Colorado in the vice-leadership of Gauchão, with nine points, but did not distance the team from the other competitors.

The post-game was marked by complaints regarding the lawn, full of grass clippings, clearly hampering the performance of the teams. Defensive midfielder Baralhas also complained during the game break about the conditions of the grass. The complaint was repeated throughout the match, and Mano returned to the subject at the press conference.

“We have to talk about the field, because it is almost impossible to play football on that field. This is disrespectful to football in the state. Whoever manages football in the state should draw the attention of clubs that do not have a lawn that is minimally suitable for playing football”, highlighted.

Even so, Colorado had control of the match, with a total of 57% of ball possession and 90.2% of accurate passes, but failed to finish effectively. Wanderson and Pedro Henrique missed good chances in the first stage.

Still on the team’s performance, Mano believes that Inter simplified too much, and that they should have tried more worked plays. “If there had been a little more lucidity, a little more work, of triangulation to get the ball in from the side, I think we would have made more shots with chances of winning the game, as we did in the end. But under these conditions, I think difficult to deliver something better than what we managed to do”.

Mano also commented on the scheme with three attackers, formed by Wanderson, Alemão and Pedro Henrique. “It was a situation that we wanted to do for a long time. I thought it was the right game to do that, because it would be difficult to build something more qualified in midfield because of the condition of the pitch. We had more strength, but I don’t think the draw went through them. The tie went through the conditions we talked about before, the players made good performances”. Colorado returns to the field this Wednesday, at 9:30 pm, against Caxias, in Beira-Rio.
