Governor flew over the Arumã community and visited families

Manaus (AM) – Governor Wilson Lima followed, this Thursday morning (5), the work of the Amazonas Government task force in the community of Arumã, in Beruri (173 kilometers from Manaus), where a landslide occurred last Saturday (30). ). The governor flew over the region and also closely followed the work of firefighters and the delivery of a new shipment of humanitarian aid to affected families.

On the occasion, Wilson Lima highlighted that from the first hours of the incident, last Saturday (30), he determined the creation of a task force to assist the population affected by the natural disaster and highlighted that the State Government will continue to act in the area. He stated that, in a second step, a public hearing will be held to define who intends to remain living close to the site or at the municipality’s headquarters.

“Right now, the initial work is to search for people who are missing. Our men are there, including divers, to find out what can be rescued. We will work as hard as possible to respond to the community. We are sheltering, together with the City Hall, these people. We have already delivered basic food baskets, dormitory kits, hygiene kits, fruits and all social assistance,”

explained Wilson Lima.

Still according to the state governor, in a second phase, the focus will be on rebuilding the lives of those affected.

“We are going to hold a public hearing to hear from the community. There are people who want to continue in the community next door, which is the São Lázaro community. I have already authorized the construction of a school. I’m already looking at land that needs to be cleaned and subdivided into a subdivision,”

stated Wilson Lima, highlighting that this process will be discussed with the city’s City Hall.

Accompanying the governor and coordinating the task force in the area, the commander of the Amazonas Fire Department (CBMAM), Colonel Orleilso Muniz, informed that teams with firefighters, divers, social workers and other areas will continue to assist at the site.

“Since Saturday, when we found out about the problem, Governor Wilson Lima ordered the Fire Department teams to travel to the location, in the community of Arumã, and we did so. A team came by boat and another by aircraft. We have been working since Sunday and will remain at the site for an indefinite period of time, until we find the bodies,”

informed the commander.

In addition to the visit to the disaster site, the governor made deliveries to the Beruri Elderly Community Center, including food and other essential items for approximately 300 people affected by the landslide that affected 45 homes and left another 30 at risk.

“I just want to thank our governor, who at the moment when we needed it most, he held hands, he was quick with the help and sending the team”, thanked the mayor of Beruri, Maria Lucir de Oliveira.
