Former congressman Roberto Jefferson (PTB-RJ) recovered his professional registration from the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) in Rio de Janeiro this week. The document had been suspended for 90 days, after the former parliamentarian criticized the minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Cármen Lúcia and shot at Federal Police agents.

Roberto Jefferson had his OAB registration suspended since November 23, 2022, after a collegiate decision of 66 votes in favor and 15 against. However, the ethical-disciplinary process against the former parliamentarian continues, until the final and definitive decision.

“The OAB-RJ clarifies that, as determined by article 70, paragraph 3, of Law 8906, the Statute of Advocacy, the period for preventive suspension of registration is 90 days, while the ethical-disciplinary process runs. closed on the last February 19th, so Roberto Jefferson recovered his lawyer registration.

The former deputy is still imprisoned in the Complexo de Gericinó, known as Bangu, in the west zone of Rio de Janeiro. The former parliamentarian Daniel Silveira and former councilor Gabriel Monteiro are also being held at the site.
