The Brazilian Institute for the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama) seized last Friday (24) about 60 wild birds at the residence of former Minister Anderson Torres, in Brasília. The former minister is under arrest and is being investigated for acts of vandalism against the buildings of the Three Powers.

According to the president of Ibama, Rodrigo Agostinho, inconsistent information was found in the records of animals in the Control and Monitoring System for Amateur Bird Breeding (Sispass). The birds would have been transferred to the mother of Torres, but the address of the breeding site was not changed. In addition, they would have exceeded the threshold for transferring animals to amateur breeders.

Torres’ defense stated that the former minister was fined, but said he will appeal. The fine is BRL 54,000, according to the Brasília Environmental Institute (Ibram), which also participated in the action.
