Perseverance! Word that defines the MMA fighter, Jucelino Pantoja, 30 years old, who won another victory to add to his unbeaten record, last Friday (17). At Shotoo Brasil 116, the man from Amapa needed almost two minutes, in the first round, to knock out the carioca Lincoln Santos and stamp his fifth triumph.
Jucelino told, during the program ‘Luiz Melo Interview’ (Diário FM 90.9)that in the midst of troubled preparation due to a shoulder injury, he remained strong in training and was confident of his victory, despite the fact that his opponent was good.
“I felt a lot of pain in my shoulder, I couldn’t train properly, but I had to be training, because I knew victory was coming. A week before the fight, I caught a virus and was bedridden, but even so, God blessed me and the victory was mine. He is a very good opponent, he had six wins and one loss and it was a balanced fight from start to finish”he said.
The man from Amapá competes in the flyweight division and is already training to reach higher heights. “I intend to stay in the division, fight for the Shotoo Brasil belt and sign a contract with the UFC. This fight is important in my MMA career and is already a gateway to international fights, which is my goal”.
In addition to MMA, Jucelino has trained boxing and was part of the social project ‘Building Champions’, former boxer Nelson dos Anjos, to whom he says he is grateful for all the teachings.
“I am a child of Nelson dos Anjos. When I needed it most, he believed in me, made me a good citizen. I am very grateful for everything. He is a big father to me and has all my respect and affection. This victory is not mine, it is ours.”he spoke.
At the age of 11, Jucelino joined boxing and from there, he began to have a history of victories in the sport. “At the age of 15 I had my first Brazilian boxing title, in addition to joining the Brazilian national team and winning several titles for Brazil and Amapá”said.
Amid so many titles and victories, the man from Amapa never let his dream die and walked a long way to make it come true. According to him, the advice for those who want to start in MMA boils down to perseverance.
“You have to persevere, believe and have faith in God. I left a marginalized neighborhood, which is Congos, seizing an opportunity and I believed it would work. I say believe in yourself and your dreams.”finished.
