Recovery

Presenter is conscious and talks normally

Sao Paulo-SP) – Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein released this Tuesday (29), a new incident report updating Faustão’s health status.

According to the hospital, Fausto Silva was extubated. Now, he breathes without the aid of machines. Faustão is conscious, talks normally and “has good heart function”. He remains in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Last Sunday (27), the presenter received a new heart. The organ, which belonged to a 35-year-old man, came from Santos, on the coast of São Paulo, by helicopter.

According to the Secretary of Health of São Paulo, from the moment the organ was made available, the system selected twelve patients who met the requirements for the transplant.

Of these, four had priority. Faustão occupied the second position on this list and received the organ after the team of the patient who was in first place on the priority list refused the organ.

After the surgery, his wife, Luciana Cardoso, shared a letter of thanks to friends, the medical team and the family of those who donated the organs, including the heart received by the presenter.

She said that, “in a moment of pain and suffering”, the donor’s family “said yes and allowed Fausto not only to have more time with his children, but also so many other recipients who are celebrating this recovery today”. “I was very happy to know that here, in this same hospital, a person, through the SUS, also received another organ from the same recipient and his second chance at life”, she concluded.
