The expansion of beds occurs to better serve the children who use the unit in coping with flu syndromes

The Children’s Hospital and Emergency Room (HSPC) received new beds this Saturday (27), and now has 42 more beds to better serve children who use the unit in coping with flu syndromes.

The secretary of SES-AM, Dr. Anoar Samad reinforces that this is another initiative of the government of the state of Amazonas, which aims to guarantee its commitment to the population in health.

“We are aware of the flu outbreak that is taking place in Brazil and it is no different here, so we are acting cautiously by expanding another 42 beds in this unit. Our wish is that we do not have to use all these beds, but it is our duty to think about the best for the Amazonian population”,

The expansion of the new beds took place after an inspection by the Commission for Evaluation, Monitoring and Supervision of Final Acts provided in the Health Units of the capital, last Saturday, 05/20. The commission’s objective is to accompany and monitor the services provided in the capital’s health units, to identify problems and adopt a contingency plan to face the seasonal period of respiratory diseases.

The HSPC in the south zone previously had a total of 111 beds, divided into 15 ICU beds, 78 ward beds and 18 observation beds, with the expansion the number rises to 161 beds in total.

The expansion was already planned by the state, to serve children with flu-like symptoms. All equipment is from the state network, and is being relocated in the unit.

Due to the seasonal period of the Amazonian winter, respiratory syndromes are common, which is why it is important for the population to immunize themselves against Influenza, which is already available in all municipalities of Amazonas for all audiences from six months.

The director of HPSC Zona Sul, Roseane Lobo, emphasizes that the expansion of beds will contribute even more in facing this seasonal period.

“Today our unit serves children from 0 to 17 years old and with this expansion, we hope to offer the best possible assistance to these children and mothers who come to us with acute flu symptoms”,
