Hélio Pereira Cury Filho is the new president of the Paraná Football Federation (FPF). The son of Hélio Cury, from the ticket “Confiança e Inovação”, had 61 votes. He will take office until the end of April for the 2024/2027 quadrennium.
The election took place this Saturday (11) in person at a hotel in Curitiba and online. There were 63 voters, one being null, and there was one abstention. From the time of registration, the status slate was favored and already had the support of 57 clubs, including professionals and amateurs, and municipal leagues of the 65 eligible to vote. The opposition ticket, Futebol Forte Paraná, had its candidacy rejected, last Thursday (9), by the Electoral Commission of the Paraná Football Federation. Led by former player, Ribamar José Denis, the ticket did not obtain the minimum of 20 signatures required by Federation regulations.
Hélio Filho is 46 years old and is a lawyer, specializing in Sports Management. Currently, he works as a legal advisor at the City Council of Curitiba. Cury Filho has also worked at Itaipu Binacional and City Hall and Curitiba.
The president-elect even provided services to the FPF during his father’s second term between 2010 and 2014. At the time, Filho signed a contract with the entity for legal advisory services, for R$ 1,850 per month, but ended up being dismissed from the position after Law No. 13,155 (PROFUT), framed in Chapter III which talks about “reckless management” of an entity when hiring relatives of up to third degree.
