In a press conference on updating the epidemiological picture of dengue in the country, the Secretary of Health and Environmental Surveillance of the Ministry of Health, Ethel Maciel, said that there is no risk of loss of doses of vaccines with an upcoming expiration date, which were redistributed in the municipalities .
“No state has issued any warning of difficulty or indication of states and municipalities of possible loss,” he stated.
Ethel also said that there are no projections about the situation, and only reinforced the need for care and attention due to the rainy weather that predominates during this period of the year.
“We still have periods of rain. They are very present in several states, which facilitates mosquito reproduction.”
Brazil closed the 14th epidemiological week with 28,395 serious cases of dengue and 1,117 deaths confirmed by the disease. Despite the drop in the scenario, the department’s authorities reinforced that attention is still needed.
The dengue epidemic is considered one of the crises faced by the minister of health, Nísia Trindade, who has been the target of criticism from the president of the Chamber, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), and from the center, which is pressing for more health funds.
