The Curitiba brand Hagi Torroneria e Chocolateria received two bronze medals at the Academy of Chocolate 2023 Awards, for its intense 70% chocolate with mango and the Banoffee dragee. The award ceremony had 1,400 participants from all over the world, and Hagi Chocolateria was the only brand from Curitiba to receive medals. The result was announced on the 15th.

The intense chocolate bar uses mangoes from agroforestry management in Tomé-Açu, in Pará. In the Banoffe dragee, the cocoa used comes from riverside communities on the Acará river, also in Pará.

The brand also received two honorable mentions: 40% cocoa white chocolate bar and 70% intense chocolate nougat bonbon.

Hagi was founded in 2017, and specializes in Italian nougats. In 2019, the founders, Adriana and Isabel Hagi, got in touch with cocoa producers from riverside communities in Pará and started the line of artisanal chocolates bean to bar – from grain to bar. Today, Hagi has two units in Curitiba.

The Academy of Chocolate is a British organization founded in 2005, which seeks to bring greater appreciation to artisanal chocolate.
