Haddad’s nephew will testify at the cryptocurrency CPI – 09/11/2023 – Panel SA

The Cryptocurrency CPI wants explanations from the general director of Binance in Brazil, Guilherme Haddad Nazar, about the company’s relations with fraudulent businesses, such as those of Pharaoh of Bitcoin and Braiscompany.

Nazar is the nephew of Finance Minister, Fernando Haddad, and his testimony was requested in June by deputy Alfredo Gaspar (União Brasil-AL). The hearing is scheduled for this Tuesday (12).

Binance has appeared linked to many cases of companies being investigated for cryptocurrency fraud.

In addition to the Bitcoin Pharaoh, the giant became a central figure in investigations such as that of Braiscompany, a company that stopped paying its investors and blamed Binance’s delays.

At the time, Binance denied any type of account blocking and made itself available to authorities to help resolve the case.

A month ago, the owners of Braiscompany and 11 other members of the suspected financial crime scheme became defendants for illegal movements of R$2 billion in recent years.

In recent months, the CPI carried out a broad investigation against companies, leaders and individuals involved in the world of cryptocurrencies.

In addition to well-known cases involving people such as Glaidson Acácio dos Santos, the “Pharaoh of Bitcoins” —in prison since August 2021 accused of setting up a pyramid using bitcoins—, celebrities such as former football player Ronaldinho Gaúcho were recently heard by the commission.
