Minister Fernando Haddad, of Finance, will have a meeting with the rapporteur of the project for the new tax rule in the Chamber of Deputies, Cláudio Cajado (PP-BA), this Monday afternoon (22) to discuss amendments to the text presented by the parliamentarians. There are at least 40 items that can modify the government’s proposal in addition to what was already agreed by party leaders last week, which allowed the approval of the urgent request.

The expectation is that the vote on the fiscal framework will be guided by President Arthur Lira (PP-AL) for this Tuesday (23) or Wednesday (24) without going through the House committees. The amendments, which are mostly deputies from União Brasil (26) and Psol (10), should be debated with Cajado this afternoon.

“We must get together yes, he [Cajado] is receiving some suggestions and wants to exchange an idea with the Farm team. He has been a person of dialogue, listening to everyone, he wants to get it right, he will get it right”, said Haddad in the morning, upon arriving at the ministry, without explaining what still needs to be adjusted in the project.

The government intended to approve the project for the new fiscal rule without major changes, but the parties are divided between tightening the text in force more or loosening it – the Psol, which is part of the governing base, voted against the emergency regime and says that the current text is rigorous.
