The Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, said this Friday (30) that the measures announced for electronic commerce represent just the beginning of the regularization process, and indicated that there will be taxation through federal taxes. “In fact, this is the beginning of a compliance plan because the whole problem that is generating is the imbalance between local trade and market place trade. The imbalance is very big. We are starting this compliance plan to adapt, to competition remains fair”, declared the minister. Earlier this Friday, the Ministry of Finance published an ordinance with new rules for international purchases made over the internet. The norms are valid exclusively for purchases made in e-commerce companies, national or foreign, as of August. The novelty is that remittances from abroad in the amount of up to US$ 50 from companies to individuals will be exempt from federal taxes, provided that companies adhere to the Federal Revenue compliance program, regulated this Friday. For companies that do not join, tax will be charged on these remittances. And there will also be an advance declaration that will allow faster entry into the country for companies that adhere.
