The Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad (PT), ruled out this Wednesday (10) any possibility of salary adjustments for civil servants. However, he stated that the government is studying the possibility of granting it in the coming years.

Haddad spoke about the subject in a press conference with journalists, after a meeting of the Budget Execution Board (JEO), at the request of the Minister of Management and Innovation in Public Services, Esther Dweck, to discuss possible adjustments to civil servants until 2028.

In fact, she [ministra Esther] presented scenarios and each ministry. Planning and Finance, above all, will return it to the Civil House to make an overview”, she declared.

The minister also added that “everything is challenging”. “We have to balance the public accounts, there are important votes for what will happen next week in Congress”, he said.

In February this year, Esther Dweck stated that the readjustment of public employee salaries in 2024 will only happen if there is “excess” government revenue.

Later this year, the government intends to readjust at least some benefits such as food assistance, which could increase from R$658 to R$1,000. In addition, the amounts of health assistance and daycare assistance may increase to R$215 and R$484.90, respectively.
