On the afternoon of this Thursday (24), the man from Amapá Diego Duarte won a bronze medal in Gymnasiade 2023in karate modality, in the kumite +70kg category.
“I am happy to have come this far and to have represented Brazil and Amapá. It is a unique experience, a teaching and also an evolution. Thank you to everyone who supported me”said on his social network.
Diego Duarte he was born in Laranjal do Jari and is a student at the João Queiroga State School. The athlete trains at Clube Tigres de Karatê and was summoned by the Brazilian Confederation of School Sports (CBDE) to compose the Brazilian delegation in the competition.
The Gymnasiade, which is considered the world’s biggest school sports competition, runs until August 27 in the city of Rio de Janeiro with archery, athletics, badminton, 3×3 basketball, boxing, karate, sports dancing, fencing, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, judo, orienteering, paralympic swimming, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, wrestling and chess.
