At least nine military agents who are part of the Institutional Security Office (GSI) testify to the Federal Police this Sunday (23) for their conduct during the invasion of the Planalto Palace on January 8. The determination of Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), investigates their participation in containing protesters, shown in images released last week.

Four soldiers arrived in the morning at the corporation’s headquarters, in Brasília, without talking to the press, and another five are due to give testimony in the afternoon, according to GloboNews and CNN Brasil. The names of the agents were not released.

At first, the military are heard as witnesses, but they may be investigated depending on the statements given to the PF. Some of them are already targets of verification in the internal inquiry opened by the GSI, which had a copy of the report sent to the STF on Saturday (22) by the interim minister Ricardo Cappelli.

Taking depositions from the military complies with a determination by Moraes issued on Friday (21), which gave a period of 48 hours for the agents to be heard for their conduct during the invasion of the headquarters of the Executive Branch. Images leaked to the press that had their secrecy suspended show some of them circulating among the demonstrators without giving an arrest order.
