Grêmio wins São José, 100% lie and shoots in the lead of Gauchão

The duel against São José was for tests and observations. In fact, little could be seen. After a horrible first stage, Grêmio made a slight improvement in the final stage, when some starters entered, enough to beat São Jose on Sunday night (29), by 1-0, on the tolerable synthetic lawn of the Francisco Noveletto stadium. The tricolor triumph over Zeca maintains the 100% advantage and leaves Renato Portaluppi’s team even more in the lead, now with nine points. As a bonus, Grêmio ended the taboo of never having beaten São José on the synthetic pitch at Passo D’Areia.

As expected, Portaluppi preserved the starters, without even taking some of them to Passo D’Areia, and sent a reserve team to the field against Zeca. And one of the justifications for this choice, in addition to filming for the group, are the conditions of the stadium’s lawn. And after the floor was wet before the ball rolled, the situation got even worse.

The first 45 minutes can be summed up in a single word: kick. Both teams took the ball and tried the direct connection with the long aerial ball. As a result, neither São José nor Grêmio produced plays with the exchange of passes or some minimal creation. Something that was expected more from Tricolor, due to the technical capacity of some players like Villasanti and Cristaldo. But nothing happened.

The teams came back equal for the second half and the owner of the house created the first clear goal situation. At five minutes, Diogo Barbosa made a poor pass and handed the ball over to Thiago Santos after pressure from Netto. The striker hit hard, but Grando made an important save to save Tricolor.

And over time, coach Renato Portaluppi appealed to some starters who were on the bench. Fábio, Ferreirinha and Bitello entered. And it was Bitello’s first more dangerous arrival in a shot from outside the area for Fábio’s defense, in the 32nd minute.

But three minutes later, Portaluppi’s star shone and another coach substitution scored. After arriving on both sides, the ball fell to Fábio, on the right, and he crossed into the middle of the area. Galdino dominated and, from the right, shot Zequinha’s goalkeeper to clear the scoreboard.

With little time to react, São José went for it, but didn’t even manage a tying goal. Tricolor, on the other hand, maintained the 100% performance and continues to be the leader of the State.
