Governors make heavy criticisms of the MST and land invasions

The recent invasions of rural properties, organized by the Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST) across the country, were harshly criticized by the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), and by the governors Ronaldo Caiado (União) and Romeu Zema (Novo ) in a speech, this Saturday (29), at the opening of Expozebu, in Uberaba (MG). Tarcísio asked for the arrest of those responsible and said he was intransigent with the violation of the right to property. The event is one of the main Zebu cattle fairs in the world.

The governor of São Paulo stated that the narrative that agro is not sustainable cannot be accepted. “We are not going to compromise. We will be tough to secure the property right. And those who tried to compromise in the state of São Paulo are stuck right now. And whoever tries will have the same fate, jail”, he said.

In the same tone, the governors of Goiás, Ronaldo Caiado, and of Minas Gerais, Romeu Zema, as well as Gabriel Garcia Cid, president of ABCZ (Brazilian Association of Zebu Breeders), organizer of the event, spoke.

The right to property is a constitutional guarantee

Caiado recalled that the right to property is a guarantee of the 1988 Constitution. “We shouldn’t argue anymore. In Goiás I made it clear to all my security forces: every month in Goiás is green and yellow, there is no red month in my state of Goiás and I do not accept invasion of rural property”, he declared.

The president of ABCZ spoke about the urgent need for unity in the livestock sector. “Our positions are firm in the defense of producers, their guidelines, the right to property and the search for solutions to the issues that afflict those who produce and paralyze the economy”, declared Garcia Cid. “Our flag is for respect, peace and safety in the field, which are values ​​that we do not give up”, he stressed. And he concludes by stating that “there will only be order and progress in the country if there is peace in the countryside”.

The last speech at the opening of Expozebu was given by the host, Governor Romeu Zema. According to him, land invasions that occur in Minas Gerais are quickly undone. “One or two people come in and they are removed immediately. Because the problem is when you have dozens, hundreds of people. So our Military Police are attentive and the man in the field here will spend his time producing and not watching the property,” said Zema.
