Governor of Pará asks Lula for the state to benefit from resources against drought – 10/19/2023 – Panel
[ad_1]
The governor of Pará, Helder Barbalho (MDB), sent a letter to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva asking for the state to be included in the provisional measure that will be issued to alleviate the effects of the drought in the Amazon.
The benefit was only planned for the state of Amazonas, but Helder argues that 19 municipalities in Pará have already declared an emergency.
The letter was also sent to the vice-president, Geraldo Alckmin, and to the Minister of the Civil House, Rui Costa.
The drought in the region has caused important rivers such as Negro and Solimões to reach historic lows, with the death of animals and plants.
