Governor Clécio Luís sanctioned a law making it mandatory to provide preferential care to people with a stoma and the inclusion of the national symbol of the Ostomized Person in all places that allow access, circulation and use by people with a stoma and in all services that are made available to them or that enable its use, mainly in access to public and private restrooms within the state of Amapá.
The law applies to public and private establishments or companies, including concessionaires of public services. A person with an ostomy is someone who has had to undergo a surgical intervention to make an opening or alternative way of communicating with the outside world in the body, for expelling feces or urine, as well as helping with breathing or feeding.
According to the law, non-compliance implies, as a penalty for violators, a fine of 200 times the nominal value of the Fiscal Standard Unit of the state of Amapá (UPF) in force, for each assessment, and doubled in case of recurrence.
The amounts resulting from the fines must be paid to the State Health Fund (FES), and the expenses arising from the execution of the law, which is already in force, will be borne by the own budget appropriations, supplemented, if necessary.

Another law sanctioned by Governor Clécio Luís determines that public institutions of great circulation that provide services to citizens must have breastfeeding spaces/rooms in their environment.
Breastfeeding rooms will be present in the Integrated Citizen Service System, State Departments, bus stations, hospitals, UPS and others. The state will adopt the appropriate measures for guarantee and operation, and must also ensure accessibility in its project.
