Governor Clécio articulates with the Federal Government the bids to complete the paving of the BR-156 in 3 years – News of Brazil

The Ministry of Transport announced that it will carry out tenders to conclude the paving of the North and South sections of Highway BR-156, in Amapá. The forecast is to complete the works in up to 3 years. The news, announced during the 12th Meeting of the Joint Commission on Cross-Border Cooperation Brazil/France (CMT), was well received by the State Government and the French government.
The meeting between Franco-Brazilian representatives took place on the 3rd and 4th of July, in the city of Cayenne, capital of French Guiana, with delegations chaired by the governments of Amapá and Itamaraty, as well as French Guiana and France itself.
“We received great news from André Lima. He represented minister Renan Filho and filled us with hope. The BR-156 is a cry from Brazilians, especially the people of Amapa and Guyana for the economic and social development of both regions”, highlighted Governor Clécio Luís. According to the director of Programs at the Ministry of Transport, André Lima, the minister will formalize the bidding process during a visit to Amapá on July 24th.
“It is a pleasure to be here bringing the good news regarding the resumption of works on the BR-156 and the visit of the minister himself. Later this year, our teams will proceed with the construction of the headwaters of 3 bridges in the Carnot region, and with that, we will have another 10 kilometers of asphalt in the North section. The completion of the work, which is a desire of the Lula government, should take place within 3 years so that we can, in fact, make the connection between Amapá and French Guiana”described the representative of the Ministry of Transport.
After the announcement, the director for the Americas and the Caribbean at the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, Ambassador Michèle Ramis, took the floor to emphasize cooperation in this matter.
“We know that one of the problems is the 100 kilometers of the highway that are unpaved, with the difficulties of the terrain conditions and the need to cross indigenous lands and also to subsidize the materials for the work. That’s why it’s so complicated to connect Macapá and the Oiapoque Bridge. We also have problems, but we want to help you complete the BR-156 road. Let’s deal with this together.”signaled the ambassador.
