Group must submit proposal within 45 days
After the record of yet another episode of racism in football last Saturday (17), in a friendly match between the Brazilian team and Guinea, in Spain, the Ministry of Sports published, this Monday (19), an ordinance that creates a group of work for the elaboration of an action plan to combat racism in the areas of sport and leisure.
The measure aims to bring together representatives of society, public companies and government entities appointed by the Ministries of Racial Equality and Justice and Public Security. In 45 days, the group, coordinated by the Department of Social Participation and Diversity of the Ministry of Sport, must submit a proposal for an action plan.
Among the actions that the plan should contain are policies to combat racism, inclusion of the black population in sports and ways to establish an intersectoral dialogue to discuss the issue.
Racism
Despite being marked by anti-racist demonstrations, last Saturday’s game Brazil x Guinea was preceded by a case of racism reported by Felipe Silveira, personal advisor and friend of the player Vini Jr. According to Silveira’s account, after going through the stadium entrance roulette, he was approached by a security guard who would have pointed to a banana and said “hands up, this one is my pistol for you”.
