The minister of the Social Communication Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic (Secom), Paulo Pimenta, stated this Tuesday (17) that the Empresa Brasil de Comunicação (EBC) is considering launching a television channel with content for abroad, in the year he comes. According to Pimenta, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) “resents” during international trips for not finding content “that shows Brazil and promotes things about Brazil”.
“He has a lot of desire, a desire, for us to be able to once again have a space to promote Brazil”, added the minister. The statement was given to journalists, at Palácio do Planalto, after an event that announced the expansion of the National Public Communication Network (RNCP), radio and television, in partnership with federal universities across the country, reported the Brazil Agency.
“We don’t have anything detailed, it’s an idea that we have. There are several scenarios, several possibilities. The technological changes that have occurred make the project of thinking about an International EBC much more viable, cheaper”, defended the minister.
Earlier, during the event in Planalto, the CEO of EBC, Hélio Doyle, announced the resumption of the international TV Brasil project, which ran between 2010 and 2017. A working group was created by the company’s management to resume the project. Through pay TV uploads, TV Brasil Internacional was broadcast in 66 countries on all continents.
