The Minister of Labor and Employment, Luiz Marinho, said this Monday (8), that the government intends to present new proposals for the revision of the current labor legislation by the end of this semester, so that the National Congress can forward the vote after the return of the parliamentary recess .

According to Marinho, the revisions are being discussed in working groups with the participation of the government, workers and employers, and should include, among other points, a possible regulation of service intermediation platforms, such as Uber, iFood and 99. cited by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) since last year’s election campaign.

“What the famous platforms are doing in Brazil and around the world is turning workers almost into slaves of algorithms. We need to react to create conditions for platform workers to be respected,” said the minister during an event promoted by the Central Única dos Trabalhadores (CUT).

The minister claims that this issue has been discussed with representatives of companies and workers, and the idea is that a proposal be constructed by the parties. “I find it harder to meet that deadline [de apresentação da proposta] in the first semester. But it would be desirable. This will also depend on the maturity of the parties. What I hope is that employers come to the table with a view to construction,” Marinho told Agência Brasil.
