Value will be for investments in housing, basic sanitation and infrastructure
The State Government sent to the Legislative Assembly of Amazonas (Aleam) a request for authorization for a credit operation with Banco do Brasil in the amount of R$220 million. This loan aims to finance the State Housing, Infrastructure and Sanitation Program (Prohabis).
The program, which will be managed by the State Secretariat for Urban and Metropolitan Development (Sedurb), will enable investments in housing, infrastructure and sanitation. According to the secretariat, the resources will be directed to the state funds responsible for each area.
According to the government message, the objective of the loan is to execute a project that meets the collective interest of the State’s inhabitants, with a view to reducing the housing deficit in Amazonas. This will be done by promoting the population’s access to decent housing, considering their social, economic, environmental and housing specificities.
In housing, R$150 million will be invested. The resources will be allocated to the Amazonas Meu Lar program, specifically for the “Entrada do Meu Lar” subsidy, in order to support low-income families that fit the program criteria, allowing them to supplement the down payment amount when financing a property. .
For infrastructure projects, Prohabis will allocate R$70 million to the sewage system, water supply, urban requalification and rainwater management. In addition, it includes solid waste management and sewage treatment, aiming at public health and environmental preservation.
