Sedecti presented state incentives, potentialities and business opportunities in the region to the Angolan delegation

Manaus (AM) – The Government of Amazonas, through the State Secretariat for Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation (Sedecti) presented, this Tuesday (22), at the Superintendence of the Free Zone of Manaus (Suframa), Industrial District, the opportunities of investment in Amazonas for representatives of the Zona Franca da Barra do Dande S/A.

The Angolan Free Trade Zone is in the final construction process in the Bengo region, in Angola, and will use the Manaus Industrial Pole as benchmarking (strategic analysis) and learning for the structuring of its operation.

The head of the Department for Attracting Investments and Foreign Trade (Daice), linked to Sedecti, Sidnei Magalhães, explained that the State presented state incentives, potentialities and business opportunities for investors interested in betting on the Amazon.

“We are with the delegation from Angola that is here to get to know the Free Trade Zone and learn more about the initiatives of the State of Amazonas, in addition to taxation and all the pillars that involve our Industrial Pole of Manaus”,

highlighted Sydney.

The Director of Development and Business of the Free Trade Zone in Angola, Roque Saraiva, explained that the delegation has a project to install, in Angola, the first Free Trade Zone. For this reason, in April of this year, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with Suframa, which provides for the exchange of experiences and learning, such as, for example, the initiatives of the Government of Amazonas.

“What Sedecti presented was very interesting. We want, above all, to learn from what the Government of Amazonas is doing to ensure that new investors come. And learning from the State to apply the experiences in our country is being very productive for us”,

Roque pointed out.

The deputy executive secretary of Sedecti, Tayana Rubim, was also at Suframa, in addition to the Trade and Foreign Affairs manager at Daice, Natalia Sagaydo.

The Angolan Free Zone expects to create 21,000 jobs and reach a contribution of between 1.5% and 2% to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) over the next decade.

The management of the Free Zone has been under the command of the Sociedade de Desenvolvimento da Barra do Dande since July 2022, when it signed the 30-year Dande Free Zone Management Concession Contract with the Angolan Ministry of Economy and Planning, extendable for another 25 years, to develop the main components of the Dande Free Zone.
