The Government of São Paulo will create a free exchange program for high school students in the state. The state Executive will send a bill to Alesp (Legislative Assembly of the State of SP) that establishes the Prontos pro Mundo program — the progress of the initiative depends on the approval of the Legislature.
The program, which will be carried out annually, is divided into two phases: initially, 70 thousand young people will be selected to participate in an intensive English language course; From 2025 onwards, 1,000 students will benefit from scholarships to study an academic semester abroad. There will be a specific selection notice for each of the stages.
15,000 English language teachers from the public network will also be selected for the intensive English course. In addition, one hundred teachers will participate in a month-long training exchange to be held from 2025 onwards.
The Education Ministry plans to invest around R$120 million in the project. The governor, Tarcísio de Freitas, and the Secretary of Education, Renato Feder, launched the program at an event this Monday (6).
