Government of Amazonas maintains policy of valuing education professionals

Salary adjustment of 8% and benefits are added to the investments in infrastructure already made in the state education network
The Government of Amazonas continues with the policy of valuing education professionals, initiated in the first term of Governor Wilson Lima. In just over 4 years, Governor Wilson Lima has granted the base dates for the category, determined the readjustment in food allowance, quadrupled the local allowance for rural area educators, extinguished the 6% discount on transport allowance, the unprecedented payment of allowances for administrative staff, including cooks and general services, in addition to other measures, such as readjustments and granting of progressions.
On Thursday (01), the governor announced an 8% increase in the base date for the 33,168 workers in the state education network in Amazonas, making the state the 9th highest floor in the category in the country. With this measure, the base salary for 40-hour day teachers at the beginning of their careers will increase from R$ 4,749.22 to R$ 5,129.16. Counting the R$ 500 of the food allowance and the R$ 198 of the transport allowance, the remuneration reaches R$ 5,827.16
The governor also announced the payment of vertical progressions for teachers and pedagogues, among other benefits. In addition, Amazonas is the only Brazilian state to offer health insurance to education workers, without payroll deduction.

In the last four years, education professionals in Amazonas have made significant gains, such as an increase of almost 20% in food allowance, payment of up to R$ 69,000 in Fundeb allowance, in addition to health plan and transport allowance that are also not discounted of the payroll.
“A lot was invested in valuing it through the offer of postgraduate courses, the offer of master’s courses, offers through Trilhas do Saber, a large training project for the capital and the interior, for teaching and non-teaching professionals. And a series of other projects through Educa+ Amazonas that were made so that we could make education better and better”,

Professionals and infrastructure
The policy of valuing education, in addition to valuing the professionals themselves, also includes improving working conditions and infrastructure at teaching units, improving the quality of education offered to students in the state education network.
From 2019 to 2022, the state paid professionals, in support of the Fund for the Maintenance and Development of Basic Education and the Valorization of Education Professionals (Fundeb), amounts ranging from R$ 23,000 to R$ 69,000.
In recent years, the local support for servers has quadrupled; there was an extinction of the 6% discount for the transport allowance; and teachers had access to continuing education, specialization and master’s degrees.
In the same period, the Government of Amazonas also advanced in the infrastructure of the teaching units in the capital and in the interior, with the objective of providing a healthy work environment for teachers, pedagogues and the entire school team.
For this, almost R$ 130 million were invested in the revitalization of more than 400 schools in the state network. During this period, 13 Full Time Education Centers (Ceti) were also delivered, 12 of which in the countryside and one in the capital. In these units, the investment was approximately R$ 260 million.
