Government of Amapá promotes mega sports program with more than 20 modalities to celebrate 266 years of Macapá – News of Brazil

To celebrate the 266th anniversary of the state capital, the Government of Amapá is promoting, starting this Thursday, the 25th, the “Circuito Sedel Cidade de Macapá”, with a mega and extensive sports program with tournaments in different modalities, from cycling to games electronics. The event, which will bring together around 4 thousand participants, will take place in different parts of the city, until February 4th, the anniversary date.
The program, which begins with a cycling tour from Santana to Macapá, is coordinated by the State Department of Sports and Leisure (Sedel), and the manager, Rudney Cunha, believes that this is a great opportunity to encourage sports in the state, by at the same time as such an important date for Amapá is celebrated. In total, there will be more than 20 modalities at the event.
“The Circuito Sedel Cidade de Macapá will be full of sports for all tastes, both for those who want to compete at high performance, and for those who just want to have fun with different modalities, especially because this is a time to celebrate and honor the anniversary of our capital”highlighted secretary Rudney Cunha.
CHECK THE PROGRAMMING
Cycling
For pedal lovers, two events are scheduled during Macapá’s anniversary celebrations. What opens the activities is the “Sedel Night Cycling Tour”, which takes place this Thursday, 25th, starting at 8pm at Forum square in Santana and arriving at Trapiche Santa Inês, on the edge of the Amazon River, in Macapá .
The tour is in preparation for the great cycling event that takes place on Friday, 27th, the 10th Longão – Macapá/Mazagão Stage, with a route of 92 km and leaving, at 5am, from the Federal Highway Police (PRF) post, on BR 210, in Macapá. The finish will be at the bridge over the Vila Nova river, in the municipality of Mazagão, the challenge prizes take place at the Vila Nova waterfall. The two competitions also appear as important events in the sport’s calendar, valuing the athletes who dedicate themselves to the sport.
Basketball
Encouraging a sport widely practiced in the capital’s squares, the Government of Amapá also holds a basketball competition between clubs and federations. The opening will be at Ginásio Avertino Ramos, on February 1st, at 8pm, and the tournaments will run until the 4th, the date of the finals. The women’s, men’s and wheelchair adapted categories will be contested, with the presence of the Paysandu and JP8 teams from Pará.
Swimming
On February 3rd, the Macapá Olympic Swimming Pool will host a program with swimming competitions, in different categories and styles, from children to seniors, with the presence of different social projects that aim to spread the practice of the sport.
Macapá City Under-16 Football Cup
During the Circuito Sedel Cidade de Macapá, the grand final of the Under-16 Football Tournament will also take place, which started on January 6th and provides the opportunity for young talents in the sport to show their potential. The competition decision will take place at the Zerão Olympic Stadium.
Futlama
As part of the celebrations of Macapá’s 266th anniversary, also on February 4th, a genuinely Amapá sport will have its space. The Santa Inês waterfront will host a Futlama competition, played on the beaches formed on the edge of the capital, on the banks of the Amazon River. Registration is free and open to the public interested in participating, on the morning of the event.
Sedel Circuit at Sesc Araxá
On Macapá’s birthday, February 4th, Sesc Araxá will feature several sporting activities, promoted by Sedel, with tournaments in 20 modalities, including: electronic games, society football, breaking, karate and adapted games. The activities start at 1pm and aim to bring lots of leisure and fun to the public.
Massage therapy and physiotherapy
And it’s not just sports competitions that will be present in Sedel’s programming, also on the capital’s anniversary day, sports massage therapy and physiotherapy sessions carried out by professionals in the field will be available. The initiative will be released to the public, at Sesc Araxá, from 1 pm.
