The federal government zeroed taxes levied on solar panels. The decision was published in the Official Gazette this Wednesday (29).

The exemption is valid until December 31, 2026. Import tax, IPI (tax on industrialized products), PIS (Social Integration Program) and Cofins (Contribution for Social Security Financing) will not be charged.

Companies that are part of Padis (Support Program for Technological Development of the Semiconductor Industry) will benefit. The MDIC (Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services) says it hopes that the exemption will stimulate investment in green infrastructure and new solar power plants.

“With the expansion of the program to the solar panel industry, one of the most dynamic at present, a significant increase in these amounts is expected in the coming years, with the generation of quality jobs in different states of the country”, said the ministry under command. from vice-president Geraldo Alckmin (PSB) in a note.
