The federal government has announced a readjustment that will take effect from March of this year on undergraduate, graduate, scientific initiation and permanence scholarships for the entire country. The announcement was made on the afternoon of Thursday (16).

According to the government, 53,000 scientific initiation scholarships will be made available in high school, worth R$ 300 per month each; the previous amount was BRL 100. Scholarships for scientific initiation in higher education will increase from BRL 400 to BRL 700. The grant for a master’s degree will be worth BRL 2,100 (was BRL 1,500). In the doctorate, the value increases from R$ 2,200 to R$ 3,100. Finally, the postdoctoral scholarships, which were R$ 4,100 per month, are now R$ 5,200.

For the training of basic education teachers, the aid will have readjustments between 40% and 75%, with the offer of 125 thousand scholarships. Currently, the value varies between R$ 400 and R$ 1,500. The Permanência Scholarship, aimed at quilombola students, indigenous people, members of Prouni and students in higher education who are socially vulnerable, will increase between 55% and 75%. Current values ​​range from R$ 400.00 to R$ 900.00.

The total value of the readjustments add up to R$ 2.38 billion in resources from the Ministry of Education (MEC) and the Ministry of Science and Technology (MCTI).
