Government advances in negotiations to transfer territory from the Union to the State – News of Brazil

The State Government advanced in negotiations with the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Family Agriculture (MDA) to finalize the process of transferring land from the Union to Amapá. The meeting between governor Clécio Luís and minister Paulo Teixeira, on Tuesday, 6, in Brasília, aligned the next measures for the transfer.
“We still have some land to be transferred to Amapá, and we ask for speed so that these lands can be transformed into economic assets, so that we can produce more in Amapá, and guarantee greater economic dynamics, job and income generation. The meeting was excellent, and soon we will have positive results from all this work that is being done”, declared Governor Clécio Luís.
The plots are divided into 23 territories, whose possessions began to be transferred from the Union to Amapá in 2022. Until the end of last year, the 12 transferred plots were already registered by the Government of Amapá at a notary’s office.
There are still 11 areas with ongoing processes. The status of one of them still depends on an administrative decision by the National Institute of Colonization and Agrarian Reform (Incra). The rest of the land is undergoing georeferencing, and another part is awaiting the issuance of Incra’s donation agreement.
“We are willing to do whatever it takes to complete this process. Let’s work to further advance this Amapá agenda”, commented minister Paulo Teixeira.
The guarantee of land transfer to Amapá means a comprehensive future, mainly in the economic sector, enabling land tenure regularization, giving ownership rights to people who have already lived and/or produced on these lands for a long time.
In addition to the governor and the minister, the national substitute president of Incra, Débora Mabel Nogueira, participated in the negotiations; the superintendent of the MDA in Amapá, Van Vilhena; the director-president of the Amapá State Land Institute, Reneval Tupinambá; the Secretary of Representation of the Government of Amapá in Brasília, Asiel Araújo; and technicians from the MDA and the State Government.
