The Folklore Festival of Amazonas Category Gold will start on July 14th, at the Povos da Amazônia Cultural Center, in the Industrial District neighborhood, South Zone of Manaus. The opening of the thematic season will be marked by the show of the national attraction, originally from Pernambuco, Banda Fulô de Mandacaru.

The evening program starts at 8 pm with a sequence of performances by the 2022 champion groups: Ciranda Rosas de Ouro; Quadrilha Alternativa Funk na Roça; Traditional Caipira Quadrilha in Roça; National Dance Café XV de Outubro; Kashmir International Dance; Comic strip As Poderosas na Roça.

Closing the night, Banda Fulô de Mandacaru performs between 10:15 pm and 11:45 pm, with the best of forró and its various aspects, one of the characteristics of the band with more than 20 years of formation, composed by Armandinho do Acordeon, Pingo Barros and Tiago Muriê .

According to the secretary of Culture and Creative Economy, Marcos Apolo Muniz, the festival’s gold category exalts tradition and tells the story of popular culture in the Amazon.

“There are dozens of folkloric dances, in addition to the boi-bumbá that represent much of the cultural identity of the Amazon. The festival brings artistic manifestations with the belonging of a community, a social group, a school and, thus, the current generations continue a history, which began years ago and lasts until today, involving the collective around culture and of folklore”, said the secretary.

From the 15th to the 29th of July, the 65th Folkloric Festival of Amazonas will include 70 presentations: from the 15th to the 26th of July, the Peoples of the Amazon Cultural Center receives 64 folkloric groups, of the most diverse modalities and, on the 28th and 29th of July, the 06 bois-bumbás from Manaus, between Master A and B, take their presentations to the Sambódromo.

This year, the festival received a transfer from the State Government of more than 20% compared to last year, destined to the promotion of representative associations of folklore groups and the bois-bumbás of Manaus.

In addition to the cultural aspect, the festival moves the productive chain of culture. They are seamstresses, costume designers, prop makers, choreographers, musicians, among other professions recruited during this period.

At the Povos da Amazônia Cultural Center, small local entrepreneurs also find in the festivities an opportunity to boost their income in the gastronomic and craft space, open to the public, and with several options for typical food and entertainment.
