National president of the PT, federal deputy Gleisi Hoffmann (PR) has used her social networks to criticize and respond to newspaper reports and editorials that she considers negative for the Lula 3 government and its allies, or that go against economic and political theses defended by the party.

In November, she intensified the pace of this practice, with 13 posts criticizing the press, almost one every two days. In comparison, there were 24 between May and October, or one per week, on average.

The conduct has bothered members of the PT, who believe that Gleisi should protect himself more on social media due to the institutional position he occupies.

The Panel analyzed posts made on X (formerly Twitter) since April. In every month, except July, there was criticism of the press, especially the three largest newspapers in the country: Folha, O Globo and O Estado de S. Paulo.

The deputy has already dedicated characters to refute Folha’s editorial against the increase in public expenses and Globo’s editorial about the attempt by the government and the PT to politicize the blackout in the country.

He also mentioned a report from Globo about President Lula’s (PT) trips abroad and one from Folha about spending on the corporate card.

Following the outbreak of the war between Israel and Hamas, the deputy also began to criticize texts and editorials that dealt with the topic, generally those that had a bias against the Palestinian group.

In November, Estadão became one of the PT president’s main targets after the newspaper published a report about the visit of the wife of a Comando Vermelho leader in Amazonas to the Ministry of Justice.

Gleisi dedicated 6 posts to the topic, out of a total of 13 — he also criticized the way the press treated the conflict in Gaza and the fiscal target.

In one of the posts, used social media to increase the attacks on journalist Andreza Matais, from Estadão. In another, she refuted reports from Estadão and Folha that spoke of the offensive and said he had not attacked anyone.

Sought by the Panel via the PT’s advisors, Gleisi did not want to comment.
