Gleisi asks for resumption of council to improve articulation – 05/10/2023 – Panel

During a meeting this Wednesday (10) with the PSD at the Planalto Palace to oil the articulation, the PT president, Gleisi Hoffmann, suggested the resumption of the political council, along the lines of what was created in the transitional cabinet last year.
At the time, the group was assembled with the representation of each of the allied parties and met under the command of Gleisi. By recreating it, the objective is to try to maintain a more direct line of contact with the subtitles and avoid surprises, such as the defeat in the vote on the decrees on the sanitation framework, last week.
According to reports from participants at the meeting, the suggestion was well received. The parliamentarians said there was a series of “repressed frustrations” due to the lack of dialogue, which ended up being expressed in the vote against the government.
At the meeting, the Minister of Institutional Relations, Alexandre Padilha (PT), said he was aware of the difficulties and guaranteed that he was already working to remedy the obstacles.
Regarding the release of amendments, he said that an amount would already be authorized this week. With regard to positions, he said that many of the disputes did not depend only on the government. Some of the nominees, for example, had not yet presented the necessary documents to take office.
Deputy Pedro Paulo (PSD-RJ) explained the points of the fiscal framework that concerned the bench and highlighted three to be presented to the rapporteur, Cláudio Cajado (PP-BA). One of them, the need to make clear that there will be no increase in the tax burden to reach revenue targets, was agreed by the government.
With that, the bench asked that the report only be presented next Tuesday (16), in order to allow time for a new meeting. While the deputies were in Planalto, Cajado met with another part of the party.
