Gil Rocha, sports journalist, dies at 63

He died Gil Rocha, aged 63. The sports journalist underwent an angioplasty and ended up dying of cardiac arrest, as a result of complications during the heart procedure, early this Saturday (1/7). Born in Siqueira Campos, in the interior of Paraná, Gilberto Rocha Manuel he leaves three children, Lucas, Pedro and João, and his wife, Ana Zimermann.
The wake is being held in the Vatican chapel, Sala Ônix, until 2:30 pm. Burial will be at Jardim da Paz Cemetery at 4 pm.
One of the most experienced and important sports journalists in Paraná, Gil Rocha graduated in Journalism at the State University of Londrina (UEL) and worked for 33 years at RPC TV, from GRPCOM.
He started on TV Coroados, in Londrina, and in 1985 he moved to Curitiba, when he joined TV Paranaense. Mainly on local Globo Sport, he was the face of the segment on state television.
He has served in various capacities, such as reporter, presenter, commentator and sports manager. He also worked for SporTV, on the Premiere pay-per-view channel, was also a contributor to Rádio Paiquerê, in Londrina, and covered four World Cups, including the World Cup in the United States, in 1994, the fourth championship of the Brazilian team.
Gil Rocha was the field reporter in the two main achievements of football in Paraná. He was on the Maracanã lawn, in Rio de Janeiro, in 1985, covering the national title of Coritiba, in the triumph over Bangu. He was also the reporter for Athletico’s conquest of the 2001 Brasileirão, at Anacleto Campanella, in São Caetano, against the home team.
Recently, Gil Rocha worked for Rádio Banda B and, currently, he was director of journalism for Rádio CBN and commentator for the television network CNT, on the Tempo Extra program.
