After the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the visibility of Brazilian athletes like Rayssa Leal, known as Fadinha, has been inspiring new and old practitioners to explore the city with their boards.
But the sport was not always seen with good eyes: in the late 1980s, the practice was even considered illegal in São Paulo. Today, however, the scenario is different and there are options to try different modalities of skateboarding.
At Skate Park Ibirapuera, for example, it is possible to practice the street, in which the skater walks over street elements and obstacles, such as benches. Located in the São Paulo park of the same name, the track was officially opened in November 2022.
In addition to the street, there is also the park modality — with more designed and elaborate tracks for the athlete to do maneuvers, with obstacles and also “bowls”, a kind of concave wall.
The city offers both free and outdoor spaces and private covered areas, in which, in addition to walking, it is possible to take classes. Check out a roadmap with both options below — just don’t forget the safety accessories.

Skate Park Ibirapuera
Ibirapuera was the stage of resistance for skaters when the sport was banned in the city – thanks to the Ibiraboys group, which emerged during the 1970s. The current device was officially inaugurated in November 2022, in partnership with Nike. The new track simulates urban spaces, with ramps and other obstacles, which are illuminated with LED lights, in a structure that has 600 m².

Zilda Nate Park
Located next to the Araçá cemetery, in the west zone, the track is one of the most traditional in the city, in operation since 2013. There are as many obstacles there, with ramps and handrails, as the “bowls”.

vans skate Park
Built by California Skateparks, it is the first in South America made especially for the park modality, which mixes elements and obstacles from different areas of skateboarding. Inaugurated in 2018, it has 830 m². In 2019, the park hosted a stage of the Skate Park World Championship.

Anhangabaú Valley
The revitalization of the space, in 2021, provided the city with yet another skate park. In the initial project, there was no proper space for practicing the sport, which made skaters protest in 2019. The track resembles a grandstand, and people end up sitting when there are no people doing maneuvers.

Extreme Sports Center
It is considered one of the best spaces in the city to practice the sport. It has several options of obstacles and different tracks.

Rain Park
The track, opened in 2019, has 29 obstacles in an area of 1,420 m². It is one of the largest in São Paulo and prioritizes horizontal circuits and a circuit of transitions —in which obstacles talk to each other.

Chácara do Jockey Skateboard
The creation of the space, in 2016, had the participation of the Paulista Skateboard Federation. It offers both the bowl style track —which looks like a swimming pool, in which the skater does not take his foot off the equipment to pick up speed—and street obstacles, such as handrails and stairs.

R2 Skate Park
The track, which has hosted stars such as athlete Rayssa Leal, has a wooden and street bowl, with obstacles such as handrails and stairs. Located in Bom Retiro, it has group classes charged separately or with a monthly fee.

One of the biggest skate schools in the country, it focuses on beginners in its two units, in Barra Funda and Farol Santander. The first has 860 m², concrete and wood surface formed by “bowls”, movable obstacles and clear space. The other occupies the entire 21st floor of Farol Santander and has iron angles, handrails and ramps. Both offer classes.

Track covered with wooden floors with ramps, handrails and stairs, as well as a bowl. The house also has exclusive sessions, classes for children and adults and rents out for birthday celebrations. Women pay half price to use the track at both units, in Bom Retiro and Mooca.
