GDias says reports about 8/1 were changed because they contained error

In a statement this Thursday (22) to the Parliamentary Inquiry Commission (CPI) of the Legislative Chamber of the Federal District (CLDF) that investigates the acts of vandalism on January 8, General Marco Gonçalves Dias, former head of the Security Office Institutional (GSI), confirmed that the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin) reports were edited before they were sent to Congress in January, but because of an “error” contained in the documents.

Lula’s former minister justified this by saying that the original document mentioned “minister of the GSI” among the recipients of the reports about the acts that were being done via WhatsApp, which according to him was wrong, as he denies that he was part of the application’s group who received the alert messages.

“I did not tamper with or forge any document. I always said at the GSI that every document that passed through there had to be the expression of the truth. The commission requested what information Abin had produced. This document was sent to the agency, which responded with a compilation of messages, including a certain GSI minister. I did not participate and the document did not match the truth,” he said, according to O Globo.

GDias, as he is known, also said that he did not facilitate the invasion of the Planalto Palace. He called the leaked CCTV footage “inaccurate” and “disjointed”.

By answering the questions, his performance allowed the 182 arrests in the place and prevented depredations of part of the third floor and the entire fourth. “In 2022, I was invited to take over the GSI, taking office on January 1st. I filed for leave on April 19. I left because of the inaccurate and disconnected dissemination of videos recorded inside the Palácio do Planalto, on January 8”, said GDias, as he is also known, according to information from Correio Braziliense.

The former head of the GSI argued that the GSI participated in the elaboration of the Protocol of Integrated Actions (PAIs) implemented to guarantee the security of the Palácio do Planalto in the presidential inauguration, on January 1, and, before that, on September 7, 2022. But the agency would have been left out of the planning for the 8th of January. Thus, he said he cannot say whether the former Secretary of Security for the Federal District and former Minister of Justice Anderson Torres have any responsibility for the acts.

The responses were addressed to the president of the CPI, Deputy Chico Vigilante (PT). The collegiate will enter the last week of activities before the parliamentary recess. G. Dias was summoned this week to also testify at the Joint Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPMI) on January 8, which should only take place after the July parliamentary recess.
