The Mesa São Paulo gastronomy event takes place between Thursday (26) and Saturday (28), at the Memorial da América Latina, in the capital of São Paulo.
Divided into different fronts, it will have debates, practical classes, collaborative dinners between chefs and a festival with music and food. This year’s edition discusses what it calls disruption in gastronomy, that is, the emergence of new paradigms and trends in this area.
Among the highlights of the lecture program is chef Albert Adrià, co-founder of the now extinct El Bulli and head of the Enigma restaurant, in Barcelona. Cooks from different regions of Brazil also participate in the panels, such as Manu Buffara, who runs the restaurant of the same name in Curitiba.
Full-price ticket prices range from R$400 (one day) to R$1,200 (three days). The complete schedule is at mesasp.com.br. The event is organized by Núcleo Mundo Mesa, the events platform of Prazeres da Mesa magazine.
The schedule of practical classes, with tickets sold per day of programming (R$ 133, one day; R$ 400, three days), covers themes that include ingredients, baking and confectionery. As an example, the prawn shrimp is approached in activity on the farm; Vegan desserts are the subject of class on Saturday. Classes take place in kitchens and living rooms, but are also broadcast online.
In parallel, the event at the Memorial da América Latina will have a gastronomic fair with food stalls and live music, with free entry. In the space it will also be possible to buy ingredients from artisanal producers linked to Sebrae programs.
In addition, Mesa organizes dinners made in partnership between well-known chefs in the gastronomic scene. In them, renowned houses in the city welcome guests to cook with the hosts. On the 28th, for example, at Aizomê at Japan House, chef Telma Shiraishi prepares a menu alongside Manu Buffara (Manu, from Curitiba), Thiago Bañares (TanTan), Rafael Aoki (Quincho) and Caio Yokota (Mapu).
