Planning guides the measures to be taken at emergency preparedness and response levels

Manaus (AM) – The Amazonas Health Surveillance Foundation – Dr. Rosemary Costa Pinto (FVS-RCP), from the State Department of Health of Amazonas, launched, on Friday (2), the Preparation, Surveillance and Response Plan for Dengue, Zika and Chikungunya in Amazonas 2023-2024. The document is available at:

The planning was prepared based on the study of the dengue scenario and guides the measures to be taken at the emergency preparedness and response levels. Furthermore, the document aims to organize and standardize the actions necessary to control and combat responses to incidents.

According to Tatyana Amorim, CEO of FVS-RCP, the plan strengthens municipal health surveillance actions carried out by the Municipal Health Departments. “The plan defines the responsibilities established to respond to emergencies that must be carried out in an integrated manner. Furthermore, it is important to build plans at municipal levels,” she highlighted.

Elder Figueira, head of the Environmental Surveillance Department at FVS-RCP, adds that the plan is more detailed guidance for managers to carry out prevention, surveillance and response to the dengue scenario in Amazonas. “It is an instrument to know when the epidemiological scenario changes and when actions should be initiated to prevent the occurrence of epidemics and deaths”, he says.

Fighting dengue

The Preparation, Surveillance and Response Plan for Dengue, Zika and Chikungunya in Amazonas 2023-2024 is part of the actions to combat dengue in Amazonas coordinated, in the state, by FVS-RCP.

For the population to avoid arboviruses, the guideline is to apply the strategy of 10 minutes of inspection per week of possible mosquito breeding sites to keep the home, work environment and school mosquito-free. Inspection is a simple measure and can be implemented in everyday life.
