The mayor of Macapá, Dr. Furlan (without party) said this Wednesday (29) that the bidding for public transport in the capital of Amapá is maintained, despite the numerous attacks that the process has been suffering, as it is the breaking of a historical taboo.
Last week, an opposition councilor to the mayor in the House – Pedra Da Lua (PSC) – even filed a lawsuit to prevent the bidding process from continuing, but his request was denied by judge José Castellões, holder of the forensic duty that analyzed the preliminary injunction.

The former president of Companhia de Trânsito e Transporte de Macapá (CTMac), Andrey Rêgo, responsible for the first attempt to tender the bus lines last year, told News of Brazil that the maneuver did not prosper, but that it is possible that other attacks occur to disrupt the bidding again. “It is a game of very large interests, of businessmen who have been exploring the service for years, but in a precarious way, hence the impossibility of the municipality to charge for a better quality service”, he said.
The new president of CTMac, Paulo Barros, said that all the inconsistencies pointed out by the control bodies, such as the State Court of Auditors (TCE), were resolved in the new bidding process launched this week and that there is great confidence and optimism that this time the bidding takes place and the best proposals are met.
“This is an irreversible process, the mayor is guaranteeing through this event the fulfillment of the needs of the population, but also all legal security for entrepreneurs who come to accept the conditions and even tax subsidies for the municipality”.
The bidding provides for the operation of the system with 180 new buses, enough to transport up to 40,000 people per day, with new technologies, facilities, but also the possibility of exploring the service for up to 25 years.
