With free entry, the 2024 Sake Festival brings together tastings of the Japanese drink and classes with world-winning producers in the capital of São Paulo.
The program begins on the 22nd, Monday, with a masterclass by Professor Haruo Matsuzaki, one of the greatest authorities on the subject and president of the Japan Sake Exports Association. It will discuss the impacts of each ingredient and different productions on the sensorial result of the drink.
The class, at 3pm, includes tasting different styles of the drink and explanations about the different types of rice, water and yeast.
On Tuesday (23), participants will learn about the manufacturing process of the award-winning sakes Zaku and Mutsu Hassen, including a tasting, with the presence of Shinichiro Shimizu and Hideyuki Komai.
The event, which is in its fourth edition, seeks to value the ancient fermented drink and is organized by Fabio Ota, founder of the importer Mega Sake and awarded by Japan with an honor given to professionals dedicated to the dissemination of sake and Japanese culture.
Entrance and workshops are free, and registrations must be made in advance via the Sympla platform.
