At the close of the Round of 16 of the Women’s World Cup, the French team easily beat Morocco this Tuesday (8), by 4-0, and secured the last spot in the next phase.
At Hindmarsh Stadium, in Adelaide, Australia, the French needed 23 minutes to get their hands on the spot. Before the break, Diani scored the first goal in the 15th minute, Dali doubled it in the 20th minute and, at the 23rd minute, Le Sommer left the Moroccans bewildered with the third.
After the break, the Moroccan team tried to show a reaction, but the attempt to score the first goal left more spaces in the defense and the French took the opportunity to expand. Le Sommer was the one who turned the victory into a rout in the 25th minute.
Now, France will face Australia in the quarterfinals. The hosts of the competition left Denmark behind in the round of 16.
The French team reached the knockout stage with the best campaign in Group F, in which Jamaica also advanced, leaving behind Brazil and Panama. The Jamaicans, however, lost in the round of 16 to Colombia.
Australians and French will duel next Saturday (1), at Brisbane Stadium, in Australia.
