Former president of the MST CPI leaves Republicans to join the PL

Federal deputy Luciano Zucco (RS) left the Republicans to join the Liberal Party, the party of former president Jair Bolsonaro. Zucco chaired the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) of the Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST), which ended up being emptied by the federal government in conjunction with Centrão.
In a note, the congressman confirmed that the departure of the Republicans occurred after receiving an injunction from the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) and the granting of a letter of consent from the national and state executives of the Republicans.
Zucco met with Bolsonaro and the president of the PL, Valdemar da Costa Neto, to discuss his affiliation with the party. The Republicans have gotten closer to the government’s base since deputy Silvio Costa Filho (PE) was appointed Minister of Ports and Airports. A supporter of Bolsonaro, Zucco never hid his dissatisfaction with the party’s movement.
“I am faithful to my principles, I was elected based on the conservative agenda and I follow this line without changing an inch of my convictions. Therefore, it became unsustainable to remain in an acronym that was part of a broad right-wing front and is now with Lula. Furthermore, I have never hidden my admiration for President Bolsonaro, to whom I owe complete loyalty. The feeling is of returning home”, said the parliamentarian, in a statement.
