Former president José Sarney is hospitalized after suffering a domestic accident

Former president José Sarney was hospitalized, on Sunday (16), after suffering a domestic accident at home. The 93-year-old politician would have tripped while walking and had to be admitted to a hospital in Maranhão.
According to his daughter, Roseana Sarney, despite the setback, the former president is doing well.
“We were very scared. My father tripped and fell. We took him to a hospital, but thank God the exams are over and he’s doing great. God willing, it will get better soon, ”he said in a post on social media.
Sarney has made few public appearances, one of the last being in April when he turned 93, when he was honored by politicians and authorities in Brasília, such as former president Michel Temer (MDB); Justice Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF); the Attorney General of the Republic, Augusto Aras, among others.
José Sarney was president of Brazil between 1985 and 1990, after the end of the dictatorship. It was during his administration that Congress met to install the National Constituent Assembly, which drafted the 1988 Constitution.
