Minister Márcio Macêdo (General Secretariat) chose the former coordinator of the MST (Movimento dos Sem Terra) Kelli Cristine de Oliveira Mafort to occupy the executive secretariat of the department.

The change was published in the Official Gazette of the Union this Wednesday (17). Mafort was already assigned to the portfolio: she was national secretary for social dialogue and articulation of public policies.

On social media, she thanked the minister for the invitation and spoke about her role in the department.

“Throughout the year 2023, in front of the National Secretariat for Social Dialogues and Public Policy Articulation, I learned to transform challenges into achievements. We still have many other challenges to face, but with the certainty that Social Participation is the best path” , said on X, formerly Twitter.

Mafort has a degree in pedagogy, a master’s degree and a doctorate in social sciences from Unesp (Universidade Estadual Paulista).

The change of No. 2 in the ministry comes after the dismissal of Maria Fernanda Coelho, which occurred amid the crisis involving employee trips, paid for with public resources, to the pre-Carnival in Aracaju, with the minister.

The city is Macêdo’s electoral stronghold. In a statement, the General Secretariat claimed that Maria Fernanda’s departure was due to “personal issues”.

The minister told journalists that he only found out that the treasury paid for the trips through the press, despite him being the one who authorizes the trips in the department.

He also stated that this was a formal error, that the employees had already reimbursed the Union and that an investigation had been opened to investigate the facts. Macêdo traveled to pre-Carnival with his own resources. The event took place over the weekend.
