Former Civil House minister José Dirceu underwent a neurosurgical procedure this Thursday (23) and is admitted to a private hospital in the Federal District. The information was confirmed on social networks by the leader of the PT in the Chamber and son of the former minister, federal deputy Zeca Dirceu (PT-PR).

“He was diagnosed with a subdural hematoma and underwent a neurosurgical procedure for drainage. The doctors already had a diagnosis a few weeks ago”, said the parliamentarian in the twitter. Subdural hematoma is the accumulation of blood between the brain and the skull.

“He’s fine, he walked to the hospital, called me and we spoke minutes before the surgery. The procedure was a success. Soon he will be recovered. Our warrior is already overcoming this challenge. Thank you for the care of the medical team and everyone’s prayers!”, he added.

José Dirceu is 76 years old. On the last 13th, the former minister participated in the event celebrating the 43rd anniversary of the Workers’ Party in Brasília. During the celebration, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) thanked Zé Dirceu for his support.
